Dry (Water) Marble

Hello, everyone!  Well, after the debacle that was my attempt at water marbling, I decided to try out the dry water marble. Okay, so technically, I guess it's just a "dry marble".

I wasn't sure how this "experiment" would turn out, so I decided to buy a few Wet n Wild 94 cent polishes to use.  I pulled up Enamel Girl's Dry Water Marble Tutorial, pulled out my ziplock baggies, and got started.

At first, I didn't have my colors right and I got a mess.  Not enough colors.

Okay, so then I paid closer attention to the directions (haha) and used a base color plus four colors for marbling.

Oooh - much better!

I waited a few hours, peeled them from the ziplock bag and cut them into nail-sized squares.  I polished my nails and waited for them to dry until they were slightly tacky.

Because of my bad water marble experience, I thought - this must be the part where my experiment goes badly.  But wait - so far so good!

So, I did have some issues with removing the extra polish along the sides.  I used polish remover and a q-tip, as well as a little bending and tugging, to remove the edges.

And look - it came out pretty well for a first attempt!

Oh my goodness!  I'm so excited to be able to get that marbled look!  I can't wait to try this again!

Thanks for stopping by, Konaddicts!

Scales Nails

Good morning, everyone!
I have had so much fun experimenting with the fish scales pattern on Mash 39!  I'd like to try this again - maybe with some blue and green sponging.

This time, I used a base of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Real Teal topped with the blue and green sparkles of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie.  I used Mash 39 - the scales are a little more open than version on Red Angel plates - and Konad Special Polish in Black.

Shake your mermaid tail, Konaddicts!

Hot Rod Flames

Happy almost Friday, everyone!  A very busy week continues.  On the bright side...it's almost the weekend!

Today, I'm wearing hot rod flames using Mash 48 image plate.  I loved this design when I got my plates, and it took me a while to settle on how I wanted to design my flames.  I decided to go with a base of Wet n Wild Black Creme.  I used three polishes for the stamping and I mixed them a little with the scraper before stamping.  For the flames, I used that my awesome new MyOnlineShop Stamping Polish in Yellow and Sally Hansen Insta Dris in Racin' Red and Snappy Sorbet.

Some of my flames came out better than others, but even with the imperfections, this is a fun one to wear.  I'm suddenly feeling very "edgy"!

Be well, Konaddicts!  Thanks for reading!

Starstruck

Happy Saturday, Konaddicts!
I'm feeling better today, so I wanted to post today's manicure.

I love stars and, after trying other star full nail designs, I think the stars on Mash 40 are perfect!

I started with several coats of Maybelline Color Show Twilight Rays.  It's a black base with a gold glitter.

The glitter in Twilight Rays is pretty subtle, so I decided to use the China Glaze Blonde Bombshell to add some additional sparkle.  The Blonde Bombshell is a rich glitter, so instead of polishing the whole nail, I decided to stamp it using the streak pattern on BM 316.

Finally, I stamped the stars using Mash 49 and China Glaze Passion.

Oh, this design feels very Hollywood - despite the smears... :)

Have a great weekend, Konaddicts!

Hello Kitty of the Month: Primary Kitty

Ooof - I'm not feeling well today, but I wanted take a moment to post my August Hello Kitty nails, so here goes!

The base I used is Love my Nails Angel, a pearly white.  I painted the tips with Love my Nails Pomegranate.    I stamped the plaid using MyOnlineShop's Yellow Special Polish and Konad M64.

To stamp kitty, I used Wet n Wild Black Creme and a Hello Kitty with paws from plate QA12.  I dotted in her bow with Kleancolor Metallic Pink.  I didn't like the pink, so I redid the bows with NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost.

Hope you like it!  Even upset tummies feel a little better when you have Hello Kitty nails!

Thanks for reading!

Rattlesnakes and Remixes

Hello, Konaddicts!  Can you believe it's already August?  I am sooo tired of the hot weather so I'm desperately waiting for Fall...

Well, today's mani is Rattlesnake print.  I tried a version of this once using BM 215, but couldn't quite figure out how to get the color combination I was looking for.

This design is using an XL Plate D.  I purchased mine on eBay for about $13.

I started this with aPure Ice Jaguar.  It's a lovely, glittery gold, but it's a little sheer, so it takes several coats to make it opaque.  I decided to color my pattern using Kleancolor Coffee Addict, Maybelling Express Finish in Walnut, and Wet n Wild Black Creme.  I dotted them on the plate and mixed a little with the scraper before stamping.

I like this design, but I still have a hankering for snake print.  Look at Miss80Million's tutorial for using BM 215.

Ooo - might be time for a remix!

Tread carefully, Konaddicts!

Puzzled (the Remix)

More puzzle pieces!
This is another using the puzzle design from the XL-A plate.

This is Wet n Wild Black Creme stamped with Pastel Blue Special Stamping Polish from MyOnlineShop's Facebook store.  After an exceptionally difficult couple of weeks, I treated myself to several bottles of their stamping polish.  Including shipping, each bottle turned out to be about $6.25/ea.

Six bucks a bottle is more than I usually like to pay for a polish, but, wow, look at how that color pops!

Is everyone waiting with bated breath for the new set of Cheeky plates?  They're supposed to be out as early as Friday! Woo hoo!

See you later, Konaddicts!

Puzzled

Ah - what fun!
This is a gradient of China Glaze Sweet Hook and Kleancolor Lavenbaby.  I stamped it using XL Plate A and Sally Hansen Insta Dri Presto Purple.  I filled in the "missing" pieces with a black nail pen.

I love this one!  I'll be wearing it a while, I think. :)

Sunset Nails

Hey, everyone!  I'm back with another mani that I've always wanted to try but never quite got around to - the sunset mani.

I started with a base of Sinful Pull Over and sponged on some orange, China Glaze Life Preserver, and a pinkish red, Revlon Cherries in the Snow.

I used Konad Special Polish in black to stamp the palm tree using plate Shany 19,  I added a little China Glaze For Audrey with a nail brush.  I used a nail pen to fill in the tree outline and then used Wet n Wild Black Creme to freehand the "islands".

I like wearing this one, but my XL Plate A with the puzzle pieces arrived, so I don't think I'll be sporting this one for very long.

Catch you soon, Konaddicts!

Summer Cherries

My favorite thing about summer is cherries!  When I was first deciding whether or not to try Konad, seeing the plates with cherries on them was one of the things that cinched the deal.

This is one of those manis that I've always wanted to try but never quite got around to.

For my cherry mani, I used a base of Sally Hansen Xtreme wear Mint Sorbet.  I used Mash 50 and Sally Hansen Insta Dri Lickety Split Lime to add the background lines.  It added more color to the design and made me feel better because I couldn't settle on a green that I really liked.

I used the Pure Ice Siren and Kleancolor Military Green to stamp the cherries using the cherries on Cheeky CH13.  I added a highlight with Pure Ice Sparkle Berry.

Let me tell you...this is one busy design!  But it's also a fun one to wear!

Designer Nails

Hello, everyone!  I was not feeling the 31 Day Challenge "based on art", so I opted for a quick and easy mani using plate QA24 (another eBay find!).

It's a base L'Oreal Walk on the Beach stamped with Kleancolor Military Green (I love this color!) using plate QA24.  I added some accents with a dotting tool in China Glaze Passion and Kleancolor Metallic Aqua.

I'm feeling very "haute couture" with his mani!  Have a great weekend, Konaddicts!
