Strawberry Shortcake Inspired Nails

Did anyone else grow up loving Strawberry Shortcake?  As a child, I had Strawberry Shortcake curtains, a Strawberry Shortcake comforter, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, the Berry Carrying Case...you get the idea.  Well, that nostalgia for all things Strawberry Shortcake inspired this manicure.

I normally like to say that my designs are quick - it makes it seem like I have a super exciting life to get back to!  Unfortunately, I can't pretend that is the case this time!  This one took a little time and experimentation.

I began this little overdose of sweetness with a base of Essie Fiji.  I stamped the dots - which didn't all stamp perfectly - with QA 12 - in Pure Ice Siren.  The design of the bows didn't stamp well over the pink, so I stamped a line of Konad Special Polish in White using M19.  I stamped the bows over that using Konad plate M56 and MyOnlineShop stamping polish in Apple Green.

...and I'm not done yet.  So much for the appearance of a very busy and exciting life!

I stamped a strawberry on the accent nail using Shany SH19.  I used Siren for the berry and my Kleancolor Grass Green for the stem.

...and finally (whew!), I added green rhinestones to the centers of my bows.

What a sweet confection!  Too sweet, even, for me, I think.  At least when I look down, it reminds me of those little dolls that I used to love so much.

...and also just found on eBay.  Uh oh.  :)

Have a berry good day, Konaddicts!  - Sorry, I couldn't help myself!

Pineapples

Hi, everyone!
I have been feeling like having fruity nails (never mind that it's now feeling very much like Fall outside!)  I have seen some really cute designs created with the Konad plate with the pineapple.  Unfortunately, this is a plate I don't own (gasp!).  Luckily, the first set of Cheeky plates (CH20) has a super cute pineapple.

This is a simple one.

  • First, you get a Mark Wahlberg movie (Contraband was my choice) - he's just so cute, you won't even notice how many pineapples you stamp.
  • Then, you select your base.  I used Sinful Colors Unicorn as a fruity, yellow backdrop.
  • Next, get to stamping!  I stamped the pineapples with a chocolate brown Nail Savvy polish (sorry, the label fell off) and Kleancolor Grass Green.
  • Finally, you ignore the absurd plot twist in the movie and choose instead to gawk at how handsome Mark Wahlberg is.  Oh, and your nails are done!

Delightful! :)

Teal Tones

Hi, everyone!  I decided I would try to catch the last rays of this autumn sun to show you this simple teal manicure I'm wearing.

This is Nail Savvy Electric, a blue green pearl.  I used a chrome blue, Pure Ice Pussy Cat, for the stamping.  The design is from XL Plate A.

I love it!  It's another case of a simple design that looks very elegant.  Gotta love Konad - even the quick manis can look good!

Be well, Konaddicts!  Treat yourself to some roses - that's what I did!

Purple Accented French Manicure

Whoa - has it really been almost a week since my last post?  Where has this week gone?  Well, I guess I'll take a step out of the time warp to share today's colorful French mani.

This is a base of Kleancolor Pink Sleepers.  I couldn't find the nail guides so I freehanded the tips with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Whirlwind White.

I wanted a big, frilly design, so I took a look at my XL Plate I.  One of the nice things about the XL plates is that you'll find the same design in different sizes, so you can pick the size that works best for the look you're going for.  I chose the largest of this fan or leaf design.

For the stamping, I used Sally Hansen Insta Dri Urgent Orchid and L'oreal Violet Vixen.  To finish, I added a rhinestone to the curlicue...and, there you have it!

I'll catch you soon, Konaddicts!  I hope you also aren't feeling stuck in a time warp!

Bright French Manicure

Sorry about the low lighting - it's chilly, cloudy day today.
We've got cloudy days, but I still wanted to get a shot of my colorful french manicure.I've been wanting to try out some of those awesome french manicure tips in the second Bundle Monster set.  Since the pattern has leaves room for your base color to show through, I wanted to experiment with a multi-colored base.

I started with a base of Insta Dri Petal Pusher.  I drew some lines with polishes and a nail pen to make a bright base over which to stamp. Here's my base of Sally Hansen Insta Dri Snappy Sorbet,L'Oreal Violet Vixen, Milani Cherry Pie, and contrasting lines drawn with a teal colored nail pen.

Then, I stamped the tips using Konad Special polish in white using BM 217.  And voila!
Or, at least, mostly voila, as soon as I can do something about this dry fall skin!

Well, I'm off to enjoy a day of cool, fall weather!  Have a great day, Konaddicts!

Simple Zig Zags

Hi, everyone!
Today, I've opted for a simple mani using Konad M78, a pattern I've always wanted to use but never quite got around to trying out.  This is Milani Cherry Pie stamped with Love My Nails Silver Sweep.  It's simple and oh so sweet!
Catch you soon, Konaddicts!

Moons & Stars

Today, I'm wearing moons and stars!  I love moons and stars; they remind me of my favorite pair of comfy pajamas. I have searched and searched for an image of moon and stars together and couldn't find anything that fit the bill, so, for this mani, I decided to improvise.

I started with a base of Sinful Midnight Blue.  I sponged on some Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Blue Blast. I added some glitter with Wet n Wild Shine Kaleidoscope.  I stamped the designs with Konad Special polish in White and China Glaze Passion.

I used images from Mash 32 for the moon, Mash 33 for the shooting star, and Cheeky 4 for the star cluster.

It's cosmic!
I really like how this turned out (despite the dent I managed to get on my thumb)...

Sheesh...my nails are getting longer.  I think I might try some french manicure designs before one of them breaks!

Thanks for reading, Konaddicts!

PS:  Guess what?  My new set of Cheeky plates finally arrived in the mail!  Hooray!  I can't wait to try them out!

Rattlesnake Nails - The Remix

Hello, everyone!  Following the lead from several tutorials, I decided to remix my Rattlesnake Nails.  I used the same base - Pure Ice Jaguar.  This time I layered the stamping I used BM215.  I stamped with Maybelline Express Finish in Walnut and a warm brown Nail Savvy polish (unfortunately, the label fell off).  The final layer was stamped with a lovely silver holo, Color Club Worth The Risque.

The holo catches the light and dampened the colors just a bit.  Layering the stamp really made the whole design more dynamic. I love how this one turned out!

Have a dangerous - but not too dangerous! - weekend, Konaddicts!

Blue Jean Nails

Hi, everyone!  A very busy week continues...but I wanted to take a moment to show you my denim jeans nails!

This is Milani Sail Away - a gorgeous, sparkly blue that is opaque in one coat - stamped with China Glaze Hi Tek using Konad M80.  I dotted centers to the flowers with Kleancolor Metallic Fuschia, Kleancolor Metallic Pink, and a silver nail pen.

Gotta dash, Konaddicts, but hope you had a great weekend and great start to your work week!
